Hawthorne, CA (September 17, 2012) – CHEP Aerospace Solutions (CHEP), a leading provider of pallet and container pooling services for a variety of industries, including aerospace and automotive, has leased a 33,217 square foot facility in Hawthorne, CA for relocation and consolidation of its Los Angeles area headquarters, The Klabin Company/CORFAC International announces.

CHEP, which will vacate two buildings, one in an unincorporated area of Los Angeles and the other in Hawthorne, schedules a late September occupancy of its new facility located at 12912 Chadron Ave., Hawthorne.  Approximately 50 people will be employed at the site.

Luke Staubitz, SIOR, a principal in the Los Angeles office of Klabin/CORFAC, and Harvey Beesen, a principal of the same firm, represented both CHEP and DSA Properties.  DSA Properties is a Karney Management Company Partnership.  Consideration for the 10-year lease was $2.78 million.

Founded in Australia in 1945, CHEP provides pooling services to the aerospace, automotive, chemical, consumer goods, fresh food and manufacturing industries. 

Equipment pooling is described on CHEP’s web site as the shared use of high quality standard pallets and containers by multiple customers.  The site goes on to say that “pooling is a strategic business option for companies wishing to reduce capital expenditures and improve supply chain operations.”  CHEP has more than 7000 employees, serving 500,000 customer touch points from offices in 49 countries.

The new CHEP facility features 4500 square feet of office space, 12 truck high loading positions, and on-site parking for 25 automobiles.  The property is strategically located just three miles from LAX and less than one mile from the 105 Freeway.
