Portland, OR (May 30, 2012) – Don Ossey, SIOR and Principal of Capacity Commercial Group/CORFAC International in Portland OR was named the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors® (SIOR) Instructor of the Year (2011) at its recent spring conference in Miami FL.

Ossey is one of 10 instructors in SIOR’s Center for Career Advancement (CCA) program which provides commercial real estate education focused on the industrial and office arenas. SIOR CCA increases knowledge and enhances business skills for professionals working in commercial real estate brokerage services. SIOR CCA instructors are full-time practitioners with extensive classroom experience. Every instructor is a highly successful practicing broker or other industry professional who earns his or her income by their direct involvement in commercial real estate. They are the best in the business and bring “real world” knowledge and application into every class.

Ossey taught classes on construction, development and sustainability throughout 2011 at numerous locations throughout the country. It is one of SIORs mandatory classes required to earn the SIOR designation. He is currently vice chair of the SIOR Faculty Committee responsible for establishing curriculum and strategic planning for the Society’s CCA.

In addition to teaching and co-managing his firm with his partners, Ossey remains very active and focused as an industrial real estate broker. In April Ossey and Capacity Commercial Associate Broker Rob McEachern represented IKEA contractor Mastercraft Furniture Inc. in an 11-year lease of a 170,000-square-foot industrial building on 15 acres located at 1620 Wilco Road in Stayton (about 60 miles southeast of Portland). The facility was formerly a window and door manufacturing plant and had been vacant for about three years.

Ossey has been facilitating industrial transactions for investors, developers, building owners and tenants in the Portland market since 1981 and has an A-list of clients, including Panattoni Development, ProLogis and Bob’s Red Mill Natural Foods, for whom Ossey received the prestigious 2007 SIOR Industrial Transaction of the Year award. In 2007, he also received the Commercial Association of REALTORS® award for Industrial Broker of the Year. An active member of SIOR, Ossey also serves on the board of the Columbia Corridor Association and was the 2009 President of the Commercial Association of REALTORS®.
