Riverwoods, IL (August 7, 2012)—The executive committee of Podolsky Northstar CORFAC International has recognized the ongoing contributions of Steven Tick, SIOR; Melissa Podolsky, RPA; and Adam Tarantur, naming them as principals of the firm. Randy D. Podolsky, SIOR and Managing Principal, made the announcement.

“At Podolsky Northstar, we take great pride in the creative, solutions-driven counsel we provide our clients; it’s a foundation of the firm,” Podolsky said. “In their work with clients, Steven, Melissa and Adam continually demonstrate that philosophy. With that outlook and the success they have achieved for the firm, it is appropriate to admit them as principals in the firm.”

Steven Tick, 50, was previously a Senior Vice President in the Brokerage Division.  Tick joined Podolsky Northstar in 1995 and has over 25 years of industry experience, having completed over 750 transactions during his accomplished career. He specializes in industrial brokerage, redevelopment and build-to-suit for both local and national clients.

Tick’s redevelopment work reveals the creative side of his expertise, where his ability to “think outside the box” has produced superior results for long-time clients including ABC Supply, Aramark Uniform Services,  Archer Daniels Midland, G&D Integrated, Johnstone Supply, Medex Ambulance, Menard, Inc., New Breed Logistics, Rock Tenn and StorageMart.

Tick is a member of numerous industry and community organizations, including the Society of Industrial and Office REALTORS® (SIOR), the Association of Industrial Real Estate Brokers (AIRE), and the Board of Directors of North Shore Congregation Israel, Glencoe, IL.

Melissa Podolsky, 33, joined Podolsky Northstar in 2004 as a member of the Property Management Team. She was named to her previous position as Senior Vice President in 2011, and is also a member of the company's board of directors. Managing portfolios for both institutional and entrepreneurial owners, Podolsky is responsible for the Property Management Division’s key functions, including tenant relations, building inspections, annual operating budgets, facility due diligence investigations, bidding and letting vendor contracts, construction administration, and tenant preparation work oversight for its office and industrial portfolio.

Podolsky’s “big picture” perspective, effective communication skills and strong work ethic have allowed her to expand her industry knowledge and experience far beyond her management duties.  She oversaw the infrastructure development of the 32 acre Orchard 88 Business Park in Aurora, Illinois, providing her with experience in all aspects of site development, including municipality entitlements, permitting, overseeing site engineering, scheduling and budgeting, and managing project contractors.

As a licensed Illinois Real Estate Broker, Podolsky also works as a tenant representative, where clients often engage her services stemming from their experiences as tenants in her management portfolio.  She also serves as a trustee for Evanston’s Roycemore School, whom she previously served as part of its site acquisition and owner’s rep team at Podolsky Northstar.

Podolsky graduated from DePaul University with a Bachelors of Science in Business.  She has attained the prestigious RPA (Real Property Administrator) designation through BOMA (Building Owners and Managers Association).  She also instructs yoga classes in whatever spare time she can find.

Adam Tarantur, 29, joined Podolsky Northstar in 2005 and in just over six years' time, became a senior vice president and a member of the company's board of directors.

Tarantur has successfully participated in the disposition of over 3 million square feet of industrial, office, flex and retail properties on behalf of both institutional and entrepreneurial owners.  Among the most significant of these transactions were the investment sales of a 283,000 square foot office complex and a 1.9 million square foot industrial portfolio.

Tarantur has also completed numerous lease transactions and has developed an understanding of the individual needs of the tenant, making him an informed advocate for either party he represents in the transaction, be it landlord or tenant.

Among the clients Tarantur has represented are Cosentino USA, First Class Moving & Storage, Foundation Industries, KTR Capital Partners, Lincoln Financial Group / Jefferson-Pilot Investments, ORT Technical Institute, Roycemore School, United Electronics, Wilson Sporting Goods Company and Windy City Novelties.

He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin–Madison School of Business in Real Estate & Urban Land Economics. Tarantur is a vice president on the board of directors for the Jewish Council for Youth Services (JCYS) and is active in the Respiratory Health Association of Metropolitan Chicago (RHAMC).
